FASHION FRIDAY – Shoes that Sparkle

Every girl should have a pair of “glitter shoes” in her wardrobe, for when you want to sparkle.

Now you don’t have to be a bride to wear them as they have become far more mainstream and the big fashion houses are coming out with some great new styles that suit everyone from super high heels to sandals, wedges and even flats for when you want to be comfortable but still shine!

My top 5 stars:

Marc by Marc Jacobs Mouse ballerina flats ($230)
Mui Mui glitter wedges ($750)
Christian Louboutin Multibrida Glitter Pumps ($995)
Jimmy Choo Glitter Bootie ($795)
Givenchy Glitter chunky heel sandals ($995)

If your drink of choice is beer, here are a few facts you may not have known. So beware when you are ordering!

Low-Carb is not as “healthy” as the packaging and marketing would have you believe. Beer already contains low levels of carbohydrates (the average beer contains only 2 per cent carbohydrate (sugars) by volume, or 7.5 grams in a 375-millilitre can) compared to soft drinks/soda that contain 40 grams (eight teaspoons) of sugar in every 375-millilitre can.

Low-carb beers contain the same level of alcohol as regular beers, and the alcohol is where the kilojoule (calorie) come from, contributing to 75 per cent of the total calories

So if you really want to curb the calories, order ”light” beer not low carb beer!

There is nothing better than a nice glass of wine, great conversation and some bar snacks. But drinking and snacking can add up to a lot of unwanted calories, so order carefully next time.

A serving of potato chips (20 to be exact) can cost you 150 calories.
One cup of Trail Mix has a whopping 693 calories!!
Thank goodness this tasty snack only has seven calories per serving. . . Olives
And a serving of wasabi nuts has 168 calories.

Chinese New Year celebrations have just finished – and it also marks the largest migration of people in the world (passenger trips will exceed 3.2 billion in China) – so it sounds like a few people deserve a drink! Here is a Chinese New Year drink that is always a winner for anytime of year.

Red Lotus Cocktail
A distinct flavor of lychee liqueur is accented with the lighter taste of cranberry – sweet and delicately refreshing
•1 1/2 oz vodka
•1 1/2 oz Lichido Liqueur
•1 oz cranberry juice

1.Pour the vodka, Lichido and cranberry juice into a cocktail shaker with ice.
2.Shake well.
3.Strain into a chilled old-fashioned glass filled with ice.

Work parties are great, but here are some top tips to avoid a drunken haze of waking up next to Gary from finance the next morning, or remembering telling your male boss he would look much better if he just lost 20kgs!!

1. Do make an effort – leave early and go to the hairdressers to dazzle your fellow work colleagues with a great hair style. Be brave and wear that red lipstick, but avoid low cut or mini dresses that leave little to the imagination
2. Pace yourself if you are drinking – remember water is your friend, not just wine!
3. Don’t tell your boss any of the following – you hate them, you love them, you want to be them or that you fancy them. And don’t ask for a pay rise either (and avoid him/her if you have drunk too much)
4. Show up to work on time the next day if the party is on a school night.

Follow those tips, and you should keep your job!
